Gorka Guruzeta Continues Recovery From Torn ACL
Gorka Guruzeta suffered a torn ACL towards the end of last season and the injury couldn’t have come at a worse time. The young striker was enjoying regular minutes with Bilbao Athletic after being unable to establish himself in the first team and was looking forward to having the opportunity to prove his worth during the preseason. Those plans ended with Guruzeta not expected to return until October at the earliest.
The most important thing at this point is for Guruzeta to make a full recovery and that is exactly what he is focused on. Over the past few weeks, the 22-year-old has been fully committed to his rehabilitation and even refused to go on summer vacation in order to continue working to get back on the field as soon as possible. On Thursday Guruzeta posted a view on social media which showed him not only lifting weights but also riding a stationary bike which shows that his recovery is right on track.
Despite the injury, Guruzeta is determined to succeed at Athletic and wants to earn his place at San Mamés. Missing the preseason certainly isn’t the ideal scenario, but once the striker returns he will be looking to pick up right where he left off. Even if Guruzeta has to leave on loan during the winter transfer window, he and Athletic are convinced that the Lezama product has a future in the first team squad.
