Deportivo Join The Race To Sign Peru Nolaskoain On Loan
Barring any unforeseen changes, Peru Nolaskoain will spend the upcoming season on loan. The 20-year-old had an exciting start to the previous campaign, scoring on his debut while also being moved to center-back, but manager Gaizka Garitano only sees the Lezama product as a midfielder and there will be heavy competition at that position in the squad. In order to play regular minutes and continue developing, Nolaskoain is expected to leave on loan and prove himself.
Over the past few weeks, Real Zaragoza have emerged as the top suitor for Nolaskoain. The club has already contacted Athletic to express their desire to sign the midfielder on loan and the Basques believe that it would be a great destination as Nolaskoain would be able to play heavy minutes. However, other clubs haven’t given up hope of signing the Lezama product.
According to a report from Asier Romo of Mundo Deportivo, Deportivo La Coruña have joined the race to sign Nolaskoain. After being eliminated by Mallorca in the promotional playoffs, Deportivo will once again be looking to return to the Primera next season and see Nolaskoain as a player who can help take the team to the next level.
At this point, no decision has been made by Athletic. Nolaskoain will first be given the opportunity to convince Garitano during the preseason that he deserves a place in the team. In the meantime, the club will continue to field offers in order to choose what they believe is the best situation for Nolaskoain to grow, play, and return to San Mamés ready to contribute in an important role.
