Athletic Sign 5 Players To Join The Cadete Level At Lezama
Every year several young players enroll at Lezama with hopes of one day playing at San Mamés. A select few will eventually make it to the first team, but every player who comes through the youth system is better prepared to face life and potentially become a professional footballer. The summer is a busy time for Lezama and the club has already made a few signings that will be incorporated for the coming season.
According to a report from La Cantera De Lezama, the club has signed five players who will join the Cadete level. Goalkeeper Lander Gómez (Barakaldo), wingers Alain Encinas (Padura) and Ibon Trujillano (Atxulaur), and midfielder Ander Varona (Santutxu) will all join the first Athletic Cadete squad.
Athletic have also signed Eibar’s Beñat Hurtado to a five-year contract, including a €6 million release clause. The young forward is viewed as one of the best young Basque attackers from the 2005 generation and rejected an offer from Real Sociedad. Hurtado stands out for his positioning, skill with the ball, ability to score goals. He’s been competing a year ahead of his peers and will be incorporated in the Cadete level as well.
