Iñaki Williams Rejects Liverpool’s Offer To Pay His €88 Million Release Clause
Iñaki Williams is coming off the best season of his career where he scored 15 goals and proved that he can be the one to lead the attack. It’s no surprise that other clubs have taken notice with Liverpool having pursued the forward for the past 3 years. Williams has always been outspoken about his desire to continue at Athletic and that hasn’t changed.
It was recently reported that Liverpool were willing to meet Iñaki’s €88 million release clause in hopes of bringing the 24-year-old to Anfield. According to a report from Alberto Santacruz of Oye Athletic, Liverpool have reached out to Williams with an offer but the striker quickly rejected it and has no interest in leaving Athletic.
The rejection was expected. Williams has long said that his goal is to become a legend at Athletic and that he’s fully committed to the club that has given him and his family everything. His passion and loyalty to Athletic have made him a fan favorite at San Mamés and he’s determined to help lead the Lions to European qualification next season.
Iñaki Williams made his first team debut in December of 2014 and has gone on to feature in 204 matches, scoring 49 goals. His current contract runs through 2025 and has a release clause that will climb to €108 million.
