Jon Rojo Signs Contract Renewal With Bilbao Athletic Through 2020
The football season may not be over yet, but Athletic are already preparing for the next campaign. As is always the case, Bilbao Athletic will go through some changes. At least 7 players will be given the chance to train with the first team, some will see their contracts expire, and others from Lezama will be promoted. The club has to analyze the status of every player and one decision has already been made.
Athletic officially announced on Friday that Jon Rojo has signed a contract renewal for next season. The 22-year-old left-back joined the club last year from Deusto and was mainly used as a substitute for Andoni López, featuring in just 10 games. This season, Rojo established himself as the starter and has already played 34 games while also registering 2 assists.
Rojo stands out for his confidence on the ball, accurate crosses, and pace. He’s grown a lot as a defender over the past two years and will be a proven and experienced player for the team next season. Rojo’s renewal could also allow him to train with the first team this summer, although that isn’t expected at this time.
