Rayo Majadahonda Hope To Sign Iñigo Vicente On Loan Next Season
Iñigo Vicente may very well be the most exciting player to come through Lezama in the last decade. The 21-year-old is a magician on the ball, can play in almost any attacking position, and influences results every time he’s on the field. Back in December, he signed a renewal with Athletic through 2023, raising his release clause to €40 million, and will spend the preseason training with the first team.
This season Vicente has been one of the very best players in the Segunda B and has shown that he’s ready to take the next step. Several clubs from the second division wanted to sign him on loan over the summer, but the player chose to stay with Bilbao Athletic where he could continue developing and prove himself at home. Next year, if he isn’t able to convince Gaizka Garitano to keep him in the first team, Vicente will leave on loan.
If Vicente does leave on loan to the Segunda next season there will be no shortage of suitors. Several clubs will be lining up to take the starlet and Rayo Majadahonda already have their eyes on the 21-year-old according to a report from Javier Ortiz De Lazcano of El Correo. The club tried to sign Vicente last summer when they achieved promotion and will return for him if Athletic chooses to send him on loan.
Two things are certain at this point. Iñigo Vicente is a special player and he won’t continue with Bilbao Athletic next season. The Lezama product hopes that he will be able to earn his place in the first team and, based on how he has performed this year, that’s certainly possible. Athletic view him as one of the key players for the future and want to make the right decision in regards to preparing him for life at San Mamés.
