Victor San Bartolome could miss the next match with an ankle injury (MD)

Bilbao Athletic haven’t given up on qualifying for the promotional playoffs. With just five games remaining on the schedule they currently trail 4th place by 7 points and will have to be at their very best to achieve their goal. Aritz Solabarrieta will take his team to Langreo on Thursday with hopes of climbing the table but will have to do so with more players sidelined with injuries.

Jon Sillero, Iñigo Baqué, and Aitor Seguin have been out of action for a while and two new names have joined the list. During Monday’s training Iñigo Muñoz and Victor San Bartolomé both picked up injuries which will further limit the squad’s depth with important games ahead.

Muñoz suffered a relapse to a back injury from earlier this season that saw him miss 2 months. The 22-year-old has already been ruled out for Thursday’s trip to Langreo and, depending on the severity of the issue, could potentially miss the rest of the season. Meanwhile, San Bartolomé suffered an ankle injury and his availability for the upcoming match is in question.

Aritz Solabarrieta will still be able to field a very strong lineup, though he won’t have many trusted options on the bench. Traveling to Langreo won’t be easy. They trail Bilbao Athletic by just one point in the league table and have been a strong side this season. That being said, the Katxorros absolutely need to take all three points if they want to put pressure on the top four.
