Lezama Weekend Recap: Athletic Juvenil B Celebrate League Title With Win At Home

Bilbao Athletic 4-1 Barakaldo

The hopes of qualifying for the promotional playoffs were on the line Saturday as Bilbao Athletic hosted 4th place Barakaldo at Lezama. Asier Villalibre opened up the scoring with a 14th-minute penalty before the visitors equalized at the start of the second half. A Barkaldo red card then saw the Katxorros take over. Dani Vivian and Victor San Bartolomé both found the back of the net before Villalibre added a 4th in stoppage time to lead Bilbao Athletic to a convincing 4-1 win. The team will travel to Langreo on Thursday 7 points off the top 4 with only 5 games left on the schedule.

Zamudio 2-0 CD Basconia

CD Basconia saw their 5 game unbeaten streak come to an end on Saturday as they fell 2-0 on the road to Zamudio. The Basauritarras were without leading scorer Ewan Urain and found it difficult to generate much going forward. Having lost, Basconia now find themselves tied for 4th place and will try to climb the table on Thursday when they host Balmaseda.

Athletic Juvenil B 1-0 Danok Bat

Saturday was a special day for Athletic Juvenil B. The team celebrated their league title, which was sealed two weeks ago, with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Danok Bat at Lezama with a goal from Iñaki Telletxea. After the match was over, the players and coaches were able to celebrate in front of their friends and family in the stands. The regular season has come to a close for the Kumeak, but they will now start preparing for the MIC tournament.

Santutxu 1-2 Athletic Cadete A

The season began badly for Athletic Cadete A who struggled to win games. Things started to improve after Christmas and on Saturday the Katxorros defeated hosts Santutxu 2-1 with goals from Aimar Duñabeitia and Iker Varela to close out the campaign. Taking all three points on the final day of the season saw the Cadete A team finish 4th in the league table.

Danok Bat 0-0 Athletic Cadete B

Athletic Cadete B’s season isn’t over quite yet. The Katxorros played hosts Danok Bat to a scoreless draw on Saturday and now hold a 9 point lead over Indautxu at the top of the table with just three games left. The squad will take a break from league play to compete in an Easter tournament but could officially lift the league title on 28 April when they welcome Cultural Durango to Lezama.

Cultural Durango 0-5 Athletic Infantil A

The Athletic Infantil A team has won every single game this season and kept their impressive run going on Saturday with a 5-0 victory over hosts Cultural Durango. The league title has been wrapped up for a while now, but the Kumeak still have 5 games left to play. They will host Padura at Lezama on 27 April.

Cultural Durango 6-1 Athletic Alevín B

Alirón 2007 lost their second straight match on Saturday, falling to 6-1 to hosts Cultural Durango. The Alevín B team have just one win in their last eight games and will try to get back on the right track when they welcome Zalla to Lezama on 27 April.

Trapagaran 0-6 Athletic Alevín C

It was another impressive display from San Mamés 2008 who defeated Trapagaran 6-0 on the road Saturday. The Alevín C team have now won two straight matches and haven’t lost a single game since the opening fixture of the season. With just two games left on the schedule, they will host Pauldarrak at Lezama on 4 May.

Athletic Alevín D 7-4 Gazteak

Other than a draw back in late November, Alirón 2008 have been perfect this season. The Alevín D team won their 15th straight game on Saturday, defeating Gazteak 7-4 at Lezama. They will be back in action on 4 May when they travel to Derio Arteaga with just two games left to be played.

Athletic Alevín E 7-2 Arenas

Athletic Alevín E made it eight straight wins on Saturday by defeating Arenas 7-2 at Lezama. It’s been an exciting season for the Katxorros who have only suffered one loss and one draw this year. They also have just two fixtures left on the schedule and will travel to Bermeo on 4 May.
