Athletic Juvenil B Win League Title With 2-1 Victory Over Leioa
It’s been a special year for the Athletic Club Juvenil A team. Led by talented young players such as Nico Serrano, Nico Williams, Eneko Clemente, Beñat Gerenabarrena, Ibon Ispizua, and Adrián Trespalacios the Katxorros have been dominant this year. At one point they enjoyed a 10 game unbeaten streak and have only lost 4 games throughout the entire campaign.
When Ander Breda’s team took the field at Sarriena on Saturday they knew what was on the line. A win would clinch the league title with two games left to be played. The Kumeak put in another impressive performance with Serrano and Erik González scoring the goals to lead Athletic to a 2-1 victory. Juvenil B have now secured 66 points, 11 more than second-placed Real Sociedad, and were thrilled to bring the trophy back home to Lezama.
Winning the league title is the perfect reward for a team that has worked very hard and played great football all season. The Katxorros will make the trip to Cultural Durango next weekend and will end the season with a home match against Danok Bat.
While lifting the silverware is a huge goal, there is nothing more important than the development of the young players. Ander Breda, and Iban Fuentes earlier in the campaign, have done a splendid job helping the players grow on and off the field. Many of the players will make the jump to the Juvenil A team in the summer where they will have the chance to take the next step towards realizing their dream of reaching the Athletic Club first team.
