Raúl Loroño Replaces Koldo Asua At Lezama
Athletic have said goodbye to Koldo Asua, one of the most highly respected men at Lezama and a person who has played a major role in the lives of countless young players. After 13 years working for the club, Athletic announced on Sunday that Asua had made the decision to step down from his position. The club tried to convince Asua to continue in his role, but he chose to start a new chapter in his career.
Asua, who has been an Athletic Socio for 57 years, has always had the praise of players. He played an integral role in recruiting the likes of Iker Muniain, Iago Herrerín, Mikel San José, and Unai Nuñez. Most recently, Asua served in the Player Support Department where he worked with parents to coordinate the university studies of young players at Lezama.
Athletic thanked Asua for his many years of service and the impact he had on so many young players. On Monday the club officially announced that Raúl Loroño would be taking his place in the Player Support Department. Loroño has been working as a scout and recruiter for Athletic for the past four years.
