Peru Nolaskoain’s Loan Move Falls Apart After Disagreement Between Athletic And Huesca
Peru Nolaskoain was one of the biggest stories of the early portion of the season. Over the summer he made the jump to the first team where Eduardo Berizzo transitioned him from a midfielder to a center-back and the 20-year-old did splendidly. However, as time passed by his chances became few and far between. Now that the Lions are only competing in one competition, Nolaskoain hasn’t had the opportunity to get back on the field.
It appeared as though that was going to change on Wednesday when Radio Euskadi reported that Nolaskoain was close to joining Huesca on loan for the remainder of the season. The January transfer window may have already closed, but Huesca have been granted permission to sign a replacement for Pablo Insúa who is ruled out for the rest of the year with a knee injury.
Nolaskoain, who has spent the last few weeks playing with Bilbao Athletic due to a lack of opportunities with the first team and several injuries in the reserves, is said to have accepted the offer to leave for the next few months. Joining Huesca would give the 20-year-old the chance to face stronger competition and continue proving himself in La Liga. Both Nolaskoain and Athletic viewed the move as a good thing for his development, however it won’t be happening.
According to a breaking report from Javier Beltrán of AS, a deal was nearly in place but has since been aborted due to a disagreement between Athletic and Huesca. A report from El Correo revealed that Huesca were willing to pay as much as €250,00 for the loan but Athletic demanded more than €400,00 and would also include fees if Nolaskoain didn’t play. In total, the price could have been somewhere around €500,000 which was unacceptable to Huesca. Sporting Director Rafa Alkorta had even given his approval before the talks broke off. Despite being Huesca’s first choice, Nolaskoain will not be leaving Athletic.
