Peru Nolaskoain Reportedly Close To Joining Huesca On Loan For The Remainder Of The Season
Peru Nolaskoain was one of the biggest stories of the early portion of the season. Over the summer he made the jump to the first team where Eduardo Berizzo transitioned him from a midfielder to a center-back and the 20-year-old did splendidly. However, as time passed by his chances became few and far between. Now that the Lions are only competing in one competition, Nolaskoain hasn’t had the opportunity to get back on the field.
The young Lezama product needs to play more minutes to continue his development, but he won’t get that chance at Athletic in the months ahead. Even though the January transfer window has closed, Nolaskoain could still leave Athletic. According to a breaking report from Radio Euskadi, he is very close to joining Huesca on loan for the remainder of the season.
Huesca defender Pablo Insúa recently suffered a serious injury to his left knee and is expected to miss an extended period of time. With the team at the very bottom of the table and in need of a player to cover the absence, they will likely request permission to sign a player on loan. A similar situation actually happened back in May of 2017 that saw Asier Villalibre join Numancia due to an injury.
If the move does take place it would be a very good chance for Nolaskoain to play regular minutes and continue proving himself in La Liga. There would also be the added benefit of linking up with fellow Athletic defender Xabi Etxeita who joined Huesca on loan over the summer. As of now there is nothing official, but there seems to be a real chance that Peru Nolaskoain could join Huesca in the days ahead, or perhaps even sooner.
