Lezama Weekend Recap: CD Basconia Extend Unbeaten Streak To 9 Games
Logroñés 2-1 Bilbao Athletic
Bilbao Athletic are still looking for their first positive result on the road under Aritz Solabarrieta. On Saturday they traveled to Logroñés without Iñigo Vicente, who was suspended, and looked good early. Asier Benito gave the Katxorros an early lead with a header, but the hosts equalized before halftime. Then, Logroñés scored the winner in stoppage time to take all three points and send Bilbao Athletic home empty handed. On the flip side, they have won every game at Lezama and will be back at home on Saturday for a Basque Derby against Real Sociedad.
Pasaia 2-2 CD Basconia
It’s been an amazing run for CD Basconia who have taken their football to another level under Ibai Fuentes. On Saturday the Basauritarras traveled to Pasaia where they extended their unbeaten streak to 9 games with a 2-2 draw. Ewan Urain continued to score goals, giving Basconia the lead in the 19th minute before the hosts equalized. In the second half Pasaia would take the advantage but Gorka Agirre managed to level the score in stoppage time to steal a point. Basconia are now up to 4th in the league table and will be back in action at home on Saturday when they host San Ignacio.
Athletic Juvenil A and Juvenil B
The Juvenil teams did not play this weekend due to Euskadi U18 and U16 competing in the Regional Selection Tournament.
Athletic Cadete A
The Cadete A team did not play this weekend due to Euskadi U18 and U16 competing in the Regional Selection Tournament.
Athletic Cadete B 2-0 Indautxu
The Cadete B team extended their unbeaten streak to two games with a 2-0 win over Indautxu on Saturday at Lezama. Mikel Montero and Aimar Peña were the goalscorer for the Katxorros who now hold a 2 point lead over Leioa at the top of the league table. The team will have the chance to increase their advantage on Sunday when they travel to Santutxu.
Athletic Infantil A 7-0 Retuerto
Athletic’s Infantil A team is still perfect following Saturday’s 7-0 win over Retuerto at Lezama. Aimar Vicandi and Aingeru Olabarrieta both scored braces while Gaizka Alboniga, Aitor Goyaga and Asier Hierro all added one goal of their own. The Katxorros have won every game this season, boasting a +117 goal difference, and will look to extend their streak on Saturday when they travel to Zalla.
Athletic Infantil B 0-1 Getxo
San Mamés 2006 were unable to build on last weekend’s win over Montefuerte as they fell 1-0 to Getxo at Lezama. The team has only one win in their last five matches and will be hoping to get back on the right track when they travel to Lagun Artea on Saturday.
Mungia 2-2 Athletic Infantil C
Alirón 2006 extended their unbeaten streak to three games on Saturday with a 2-2 draw against Mungia. The Infantil C team appear to have gotten their season back on the right track and will look to pick up another positive result on Saturday when they host Leioa at Lezama.
Athletic Alevín A 4-1 Cultural Durango
San Mamés 2007 finally put an end to their two game losing streak on Saturday when they defeated Cultural Durango 4-1 at Lezama. The victory came at an important time for the Katxorros who will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Zalla for another important fixture.
Indautxu – Athletic Alevín B
Alirón 2007 came into the weekend having won their last four matches, but playing on the road against league leaders Indautxu was never going to be easy. The Alevín B team were defeated 3-0 but will have the chance to respond in a big way on Saturday when they host Danok Bat at Lezama.
Portugalete 1-9 Athletic Alevín C
San Mamés 2008 may have lost their first game of the season, but they have played sensational football since then. On Saturday they traveled to Portugalete where they came away with a 9-1 win which was the team’s 7th straight victory. The Alevín C team will be back at home on 9 March to host Somorrostro.
Athletic Alevín D 9-4 Iturrigorri
Alirón 2008 haven’t lost a single game this season and, were it not for a draw against Gaztelueta back in November, they would be perfect right now. The Katxorros made it 9 straight wins on Saturday when they defeated Iturrigorri 9-4 at Lezama in what was another impressive performance from Alevín D. They will travel to Portugalete on 9 March as they look to continue their great run.
Athletic Alevín E 10-0 Lagun Artea
The Athletic Alevín E team’s 7-3 loss to Gatika earlier this month took everyone by surprise. At the time they had won every single game and the following week they suffered their first draw of the season as well. Over the weekend they made a statement by defeating Lagun Artea 10-0 at Lezama to put an end emphatic to the winless streak. The team will have this weekend off, but will be back in action on 9 March when they travel to Barrika.
