Bilbao Athletic 1-0 Gimnástica

The home and away trend continued for Bilbao Athletic who rebounded from last weekend’s loss at Tudelano with a 1-0 victory over Gimnástica on Saturday at Lezama. Iñigo Vicente set up Asier Villalibre for a first half header to put the Katxorros ahead and they never looked back. Both sides had chances in front of goal but the long goal stood as the winner. Picking up 3 points moved Bilbao Athletic to 8th place and just 6 points off of the promotional playoff zone of the table. On Saturday the team will try to win their first game on the road under Aritz Solabarrieta as they travel to Amorebieta.

CD Basconia 3-0 Somorrostro

CD Basconia have been in scintillating form and have now won four games in a row after Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Somorrostro. Xabi Arberas opened up the scoring in the first half before Oier Zarraga and Gorka Agirre added two more after the break. Iban Fuentes now has the team up to 7th in the league table on 33 points and they will have the chance to move even higher on Saturday when they travel to Sestao River.

Osasuna 3-2 Athletic Juvenil A

The two game winning streak came to an end for Athletic’s Juvenil A team on Saturday when they fell 3-2 to Osasuna in Pamplona. Goals from Kepa Uriarte and Alejandro Ibarrondo had the Katxorros up 2-0 at half before conceding 3 goals in the final 45 minutes. The team will be back at Lezama on Sunday where they will host Antiguoko who currently have a 5 point lead over Athletic in the league table.

Leioa 2-1 Athletic Cadete B

All good things must come to an end and such is the case for Athletic Cadete B who lost their first game of the season on Saturday. Asier Santamaria scored the lone goal for Athletic but it wasn’t enough as they were defeated 2-1 by hosts Leioa who have now taken the top spot in the table with a one point lead over Ander Alaña’s team. The Katxorros will be looking to take back first place on Sunday when they travel to take on Balmaseda.

Athletic Infantil A 10-0 Montefuerte

Perfection is still the story for Athletic’s Infantil A team who now have 12 wins from 12 games this season after defeating Montefuerte 10-0 at Lezama. It’s no surprise that they hold a massive lead at the top of the league table and could increase their advantage on Saturday when they host Abadiño.

Betolatza 0-0 Athletic Alevín A

San Mamés 2007 ended their two game losing streak over the weekend, but it wasn’t necessarily the best possible result. Athletic’s Alevín A team played hosts Betolatza to a scoreless draw, but it won’t get any easier. On Saturday they will welcome league leaders Santutxu to Lezama in what will be a very difficult match after losing the first meeting 5-0 away from home.

Athletic’s Alevín E team, known as 1898 2008, have won every single game this season but had arguably their biggest test of the year over the weekend. Hosts Arenas Club pushed the Katxorros throughout the entire match but Athletic were able to pull off a 5-4 win on the road.
