Lezama Weekend Update: Ewan Urain Continues To Score And Bilbao Athletic Fall On The Road

Tudelano 3-2 Bilbao Athletic

Coming off of an important win at home Bilbao Athletic failed to get a good result on the road against Tudelano. Asier Benito opened up the scoring in the first half butt he home side added three goals of their own after the break. Unai Vencedor pulled one back before the final whistle, however it wasn’t enough as the Katxorros fell 3-2. On Sunday they will welcome Gimnástica to Lezama as they look to pick up an important three points.

Deusto 1-2 CD Basconia

With Sunday’s 2-1 win on the road against Deusto CD Basconia have now won three games in a row. Deusto scored the first goal in the 29th minute but Ewan Urain beat the keeper twice in the second half to secure the victory. It was the striker’s second straight game with a brace. Basconia are playing their best football of the season and will look to make it four wins on Sunday when they host third place Somorrostro.

Athletic Juvenil A 4-1 Eibar

It’s been a difficult year for the Athletic Juvenil A team but they finally have their first winning streak of the season. Kepa Uriarte andMarco Diliberto scored in the first half while Alejandro Ibarrondo and David Hernández found the back of the next late in the second half to give the team a big 4-1 win over a strong Eibar side. Having won two games in a row Athletic could climb as high as 8th in the table if they can take all three points on the road against Osasuna on Sunday.

Juvenil A

Aurrera Vitoria 1-4 Athletic Juvenil B

Athletic Juvenil B made it three straight wins on Sunday when they defeated Aurrera Vitoria in a challenging road game. The victory sees the Katxorros keep their place at the top of the table and increases their goal differential to an impressive +30 on the season. Another Sunday match looms as Athletic will host Zarautz at Lezama and try to extend their winning streak.

Athletic Cadete A 2-2 Getxo

It’s also been a difficult year for the Cadete A team who entered the weekend coming off of a convincing 4-2 win on the road against Gernika. They welcomed Getxo to Lezama and Ibai Asenjo scored a brace as the two sides were locked in a tight match that ended in a 2-2 draw. The Katxorros are currently 12 points off of table leaders Real Sociedad which just so happens to be their next opponents in a road game on Sunday.

Athletic Cadete B 5-2 Astrabuduako

Athletic’s Cadete B team are still unbeaten as their fantastic season continues. Coming off of a disappointing 1-1 draw against Cultural Durango the Katxorros responded with a 5-2 win over Astrabudauko at Lezama on Saturday. Aimar Peña and Aitor Vega both scored braces while Ibon Sánchez added a goal of his own in the victory. Athletic hold a slim lead over Leioa at the top of the table and will actually travel to face them on Sunday in what will be the biggest game of the season so far.

Santutxu 0-5 Athletic Infanil A

The Athletic Infantil A team has been perfect this year and that didn’t change on Saturday as they beat Santutxu 5-0 on the road. Not only was it their 11th straight win, out of 11 matches this season, it was also the 7th consecutive clean sheet. Athletic hold a large lead at the top of the table and will host Montefuerte at Lezama on Saturday.

Cadete A

Athletic Cadete A earned a hard fought 2-2 draw against Getxo (Zabaleta)

Indautxu 4-0 Athletic Infanil B

Athletic San Mamés 2006 were looking to build on their 4-3 win over Somorrostro as they  traveled to Indautxu on Saturday, but it turned out to be a one sided game. The Katxorros fell 4-0, the worst loss of the season, and will be looking to get back to their winning ways when they host Bermeo at Lezama on Saturday.

Athletic Infantil C 4-0 Begoña

Athletic Alirón 2006 defeated Begoña at Lezama on Saturday to win their second straight game in league play. Ander Peciña scored a brace while Ander Soravilla and Oier Kortazar added one goal of their own in the victory. They’ve now gone three games unbeaten and will have the chance to extend that streak when travel to face off with Danok Bat on Saturday.

Arratia 4-3 Athletic Alevín A

It’s been a bit of a struggle for Athletic San Mamés 2007 as of late. The team ended 2018 with a 3-0 los to Cultural Durango and then fell 4-3 to Arratia in their first game of the New Year on Saturday. The losing streak overshadows the fact that the Katxorros have had a good season, currently sitting second in the table, and they will have the chance to right the ship on Saturday when they travel to Betolatza.

Athletic Alevín B 4-2 Zalla

Athletic Alirón 2007 once had a four game losing streak but that is now a thing of the past. Saturday saw the team beat Zalla 4-2 at Lezama which was their third consecutive win and saw them climb further up the league table. The Katxorros will look to make it four straight wins on Saturday on the road against Lagun Artea.


Next weekend will bring more excited games at Lezama (AC)

Sodupe 1-11 Athletic Alevín C

Other than losing their opening game of the season the Alevín C team has been unbeaten and playing great football. San Mamés 2008 went on the road against Sodupe on Saturday and came away with an impressive 11-1 win. They will be back at home this coming weekend as Trapagaran visits Lezama on Saturday.

Athletic Alevín D 8-0 Gurutzeta

Alirón 2008 are still unbeaten after defeating Guruzeta 8-0 at Lezama on Saturday. It was the team’s third consecutive victory and another great performance at home. The team will be back on the road to face Gazteak on Saturday.

Athletic Alevín E 5-1 Gorliz

Athletic Alevín E’s perfect season continued with their eighth straight victory on Saturday. The team defeated Gorliz 5-1 at Lezama in what was a challenging game and will now turn their attention to next weekend’s road trip to Arenas on Saturday.
