Huesca Have Contacted Athletic Club Over A Possible Loan Move For Goalkeeper Alex Remiro
The drama surrounding Alex Remiro’s contract dispute has been ongoing since before the season even began. He was expected to take over for Kepa Arrizabalaga who left for Chelsea in the summer, but felt that Athletic did not value him when offering a contract renewal. In response he told the club that he refused to negotiate further and has been kept out of the squad for every game this season as a result.
In all the drama it’s been easy to forget one important fact – Remiro is ready to play in the Primera. He proved himself worthy last season when he was the best goalkeeper in the Segunda and helped lead Huesca to their first promotion in club history. Now they want him back.
According to an exclusive report from Javier Ortiz de Lazcano of El Correo, Huesca contacted Athletic last week to express their interest in signing Remiro on loan again for the remainder of the season. Under the previous Board of Directors there was an unwillingness to let the Lezama product leave but Huesca are hopeful that things will be different with new President Aitor Elizegi and they have reached out to the Basque giants several times already.
At this point Huesca are waiting on an answer from Athletic, but relations have somewhat improved between the club and Player. Elizegi has convinced the 23-year-old to resume negotiations and Remiro wants to hear the new proposal. If it’s an offer that makes him feel valued then he would love to renew and continue with his boyhood club. Talks haven’t taken place yet, but they will. Meanwhile, Huesca are waiting for an answer.
