With 2018 coming to a close La Liga has released the official television revenue numbers from the 2017/2018 season. As expected Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atlético Madrid hold the top three places. However, Athletic Club received the fifth highest income from television rights last season which is slightly higher than expected.

Barcelona topped the list with €154 million, followed by Real Madrid with €148 million. Atlético Madrid finished third with €110.6 million and then Sevilla with €74 million. Athletic weren’t far behind at all as they finished the 2017/2018 season having brought in €73.2 million in television rights revenue.

Athletic had finished the previous campaign in fourth place with just €3 million less but were overtaken by Sevilla last season. After subtracting the fees that every club must pay, in Athletic’s case €5.1 million, the Basques brought in a net of €68.1 million. In total La Liga clubs were awarded €1,506.4 million in gross revenue which is 8.5% more than the previous season of €1,387.5 million. Clubs in the Primera were given 88% of this income with clubs in the Segunda being awarded with the final 12% which equated to €180.6 million.
