Iñigo Córdoba “There Is A Different Focus On Positioning And Organization”
Iñigo Córdoba has barely featured this season and has struggled when he’s been on the field. All of that seemed to change on Thursday as he started against Huesca and played his best game of the year. After the game the winger told reporters that the team is very happy with the result, while also highlighting the biggest tactical difference under new manager Gaizka Garitano.
“We are very happy with the win. It was needed. There is a different focus on positioning and organization. Each player is asked to do more in their position, to be more organized and everyone cover more of their area. We were sad about what happened. Toto is a very nice person. What happened has given us a lot of grief because of the personal treatment that he gave us. We felt responsible.”
Several players have been outspoken about their sadness at seeing Berizzo dismissed earlier this week. The team had a great relationship with the former manager, but the lack of results forced the club to make a change in hopes of saving the season. Garitano has started his tenure with a convincing victory and fans are hopeful that he will be able to lead the Basques out of the relegation zone.
