Oihan Sancet Returns To The Training Field For The Next Stage Of His Recovery
Oihan Sancet is a special young footballer. The midfielder was the star of Athletic’s Juvenil A team last year and impressed so much that he was called up to train with the first team over the summer. He began the season as a starter for Bilbao Athletic where he once again stood out as one of the best players on the pitch every single game. It seemed like it was only a matter of time before he would make his senior debut, but then things took a turn for the worst.
On 1 September Sancet suffered a torn ACL in a match against Gimnástica. Due to the nature of the injury it seemed as though he season was most likely over, but the 18-year-old has been working hard to recover as quickly as possible. About a week ago he shared some videos on Instagram that showed him working out at his rehab center and now he has taken yet another big step forward in his recovery process.
Sancet returned to the fields of Lezama on Tuesday where he has begun doing exercises and personal training sessions to continue strengthening his knee. The midfielder’s recovery is right on track for where it should be at this stage and the hope is that he will be able to rejoin his teammates in regular training sometime in the spring. The serious injury was a set-back for Sancet’s development, but he is determined to come back stronger than ever and ready to fight for his place at the San Mamés.
