Peru Nolaskoain “We Have To Continue And Tomorrow We Will Try To Turn This Around”
Athletic have now gone 12 straight games without a victory after drawing 1-1 with Getafe on Sunday. Peru Nolaskoain came on early in the second half for an injured Mikel Balenziaga and managed to open up the scoring with a brilliant header. After the game he told beIN that he thought the team played well and will have to work hard if they want to turn the season around.
“I wouldn’t say that we played a perfect match, but I think we were good and showed our best face. We already knew that this team fights for every ball. They are very strong and physical. We have to continue and tomorrow we will try to turn this around. I’m happy with how I played, but I would enjoy it more if we had won and kept all three points at home.”
With Sunday’s draw Athletic are currently in the relegation zone of the La Liga table. The Lezama product admitted that the team will have to put those thoughts out of their heads as they begin to prepare for Wednesday’s Copa del Rey match against Huesca.
“Their goal hurt us and it took us a while to turn things around. The points isn’t good enough to get us out of the relegation zone, but we are already thinking about the game on Wednesday. You have to disconnect from the Legue and think about the Cup. The Cup is important for us and after that we have to think about the game against Levante.”
Wednesday’s Copa match against Huesca will present manager Eduardo Berizzo with a few difficult decisions to make. Both Raúl García and Mikel Balenziaga had to leave Sunday’s game with injuries and may not be available to play in three days. Yeray recently returned to training but still hasn’t be cleared, while Yuri Berchiche will likely be called upon to start. He’s still serving his three-match ban in La Liga, but is available for Copa fixtures.
