Athletic Club Begin Demanding Week Of Training To End The International Break
Athletic returned to training on Monday after having the weekend off and enjoyed an intense session at Lezama. Over the next few days players will be returning from international duty as the break comes to a close and Eduardo Berizzo has prepared a demanding week of training ahead of Sunday’s match against Getafe. Fans will be able to attend some of the practices but it’s clear that the players will be working hard with their next fixture in mind.
On Tuesday the team will train again at Lezama at 10:00am and the session will be open to the public. However, they will have a second session later in the day at 6:00pm when they will be practicing behind closed doors at the San Mamés. Things will be back to normal on Wednesday with just one training at Lezama at 10:30am. Thursday looks almost identical to Tuesday with two sessions – an early one at Lezama and a later one at the San Mamés – but there will be a press conference in between. Media members will also be able to attend the first 15 minutes of the evening practice.
The players will not have anymore double sessions for the rest of the week with Friday’s practice taking place at 11:30am at Lezama. It will be followed by a press conference. Saturday’s session will begin at 10:30am and only the first 15 minutes will be open to the media. Eduardo Berizzo will give his pregame press conference right afterwards. Sunday’s match against Getafe will be a tough one but the Lions need all three points if they are going to start climbing further away from the relegation zone. After the game the substitutes and the players that aren’t called up for the match will train on the field at Lezama as the team will quickly be turning their attention to Wednesday’s Copa del Rey match against Huesca.
