Iker Muniain “We Are Going With Berizzo To The Death”
Iker Muniain scored a second half goal for Athletic on Wednesday to help the Lions earn a 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano. After the game he said that it is always positive to pick up points and highlighted the team’s ability to turn things around in the second half after a poor start to the game.
“It’s always positive to add points. You could see in the first half that things were pretty bad. At the break we were aware that we had to change things and we were a totally different teams. In the second half the rhythm and intensity was noticeable. We managed to tie the game and we even had options to win.”
Going into the match against Valencia on Saturday, Muniain pointed out that he still thinks it is too early to call games finals. He said that Athletic believes in their projects and coaches and made it very clear that the players will follow manager Eduardo Berizzo to the death.
“We were able to rescue something in the second half and we have a reason to continue believing against Valencia. It will only be the tenth match so I don’t believe that it’s a final. Athletic is a serious club that believes in the projects and coaches. With Berizzo we will go to the end, we are going with him to the death.”
Muniain currently leads all Athletic players with four goals this season. He’s been one of the key players for the team and a leader on and off the field. When asked about his current contract negotiations he stated, “We will see what happens these next few weeks, hopefully it will be resolved soon”. The 25-year-old has stated on numerous occasions that he wants to spend his entire career at Athletic, but the most immediate concern at the moment is finding a way to pick up all three points on Saturday.
