Lezama Weekend Recap: CD Basconia Starting To Find Their Rhythm

It was another exciting weekend around Lezama filled with many different storylines. There were some defeats, some big wins, and a lot of academy players working hard to help their teams be successful. As usual, there were plenty of goals and you can check them all out below in this weekend’s Lezama recap.

Real Sociedad B 1-0 Bilbao Athletic

Bilbao Athletic played their first Basque Derby of the season on Saturday when they traveled to Zubieta to take on Real Sociedad B. Gaizka Garitano’s side dominated the game in all facets, but were unable to beat the keeper despite creating several chances. In the end, Zouridine would score a late goal in the second half to hand the Katxorros their second straight loss on the road. Bilbao Athletic have only earned one point from their last three games and are in need of a strong performance next weekend when they host Mirandés at Lezama.

San Ignacio 0-1 CD Basconia

After a terrible start to the season CD Basconia finally seem to have found their rhythm. A 74th minute goal from Ruben Azcona led the team to their second straight victory and saw the feeder club move closer to the middle of the league table. Aritz Solabarrieta’s side is really coming together at a key moment of the season and will be back in action next weekend when they travel to face Santurtzi.

Athletic Juvenil A 2-0 Valvanera

Athletic’s Juvenil A team got back to their winning ways over the weekend after three straight draws. Juste scored a brace to lead the Katxorros to a 2-0 win over Valvanera at Lezama and now leads the squad with three goals in total this season. Athletic currently sit three points off of the Cup zone of the table and will travel next weekend to play Txantrea in what will be another difficult match.

Nico Serrano

Arrupe Chaminade 1-3 Athletic Juvenil B

It’s been an impressive start to the season for the Athletic Juvenil B team who are still yet to lose a match. Over the weekend the Katxorros defeated Arrupe Chaminade 3-1 on the road thanks to a goal from Koldo Ferrer and a brace from Nico Serrano. Iban Fuentes’s side currently trail table leaders Danok Bat by two points and will host Antoguoko next weekend at Lezama.

Athletic Cadete A 1-1 Tolosa

After suffering their first loss of the season last weekend, Athletic’s Cadete A team rebounded by picking up a tough 1-1 draw against Tolosa at Lezama. Next weekend’s away trip to Danok Bat will give the team a great chance to pick up their fourth win of the season, but it certainly won’t be an easy match.

Amorebieta 0-3 Athletic Cadete B

Second game into the season, same story for Athletic’s Cadete B. Coming off of a 3-0 home win over Balmaseda, they traveled to Amorebieta over the weekend and pulled off another 3-0 victory. Ieltxu García scored a brace and Aitor Vega added a goal of his own to lift the team to victory and remain perfect to start the year.

Lezama Infantil A

Athletic Infantil A 7-0 Barakaldo

Athletic’s Infantil A team continues to score goals for fun. Last weekend they defeated Deusto 14-1 on the road and in their latest match they posted a 7-0 win over Barakaldo at Lezama. Their goal difference to start the season is now 21-1 as they have earned all six points available through the first two fixtures on the calendar.

Athletic San Mamés 2006

The Infantil B team, referred to as San Mamés 2006, did not have a match over the weekend. They will host Gatika KT next weekend at Lezama and will be looking to build on the three points they picked up at the start of the season when they defeated Gernika 5-3.

Amorebieta 3-3 Athletic Alirón 2006

Athletic’s Infantil C team, known as Alirón 2006, played their first away game of the season over the weekend and were hosted by Amorebieta. It was a hard fought game by both sides that ended in a 3-3 draw with Athletic getting goals by David Arredondo, Peio Huestamendia, and Ander Peciña. Next weekend they will see Bermeo visit Lezama for their third game of the year.
