Peru Nolaskoain Reportedly Rejected An Offer From Real Sociedad Over The Summer, Set To Sign Contract Extension With Athletic Club
Peru Nolaskoain has been one of the biggest stories of the Athletic Club season so far. The 19-year-old was called up to the first team by Eduardo Berizzo who then proceeding to transition the midfielder into a center-back where he has thrived. Even before making the switch Nolaskoain was a top youth prospect and was already getting attention from rivals clubs.
According to a breaking report from Javier Beltran of AS, Real Sociedad tried to sign Nolaksoain over the summer after telling the player that they were willing to pay his €8 million release clause. However, the 19-year-old rejected the offer in order to stay at Athletic where he feels valued and believed that he would be handed opportunities this season which has proved true.
Nolaskoain is very happy at Athletic and thankful for everything the club has done for him since joining Lezama back in 2015. He’s been excited about the switch to defense and is taking it all in stride as he continues to improve in the position. Now he’s looking to secure his future at the San Mamés with contract negotiations already underway.
As things stand right now Nolaksoain’s current contract is set to expire after this season, but Athletic do have the option to automatically extend the deal. That being said, the two sides have actually been working on a more serious renewal that Javier Beltran says could be finalized in the coming days. The 19-year-old is expected to sign a five year extension that will see his release clause rise to somewhere between €30-€40 million to reflect his current status in the Athletic Club team.
