Bilbao Athletic Defender Javier Murua Trains With The First Team
The international break is underway and that means that Athletic will be without a few key players. Iñigo Martinez is currently with the Spain National Team, while Unai Nuñez and Unai Simón have both been called up to the U21 squad. Although they are away from the group, Athletic will continue training with one eye firmly fixed on the upcoming game against Real Madrid on 15 September at the San Mamés.
With two center-backs away on international duty, Eduardo Berizzo has turned to Lezama to fill the team in training. On Wednesday the manager called up Bilbao Athletic defender Javier Murua to train with the first team. The 21-year-old was promoted to the reserves over the summer after spending the last two seasons with CD Basconia where he was a key player and featured in 60 games.
Gaizka Garitano has had to rework his center-back pairings this year at Bilbao Athletic after seeing both Oscar Gil and Unai Bilbao leave over the summer. So far Dani Vivian has started both games with newcomer Oier Luengo his partner in the first match and Murua being named in the lineup over the weekend. Juanma Velasco of Marca says that Berizzo has had his eye on Murua which played a role in him being the one called up to train with the first team.
