Oihan Sancet Diagnosed With Torn ACL And Meniscus In Left Knee
When Oihan Sancet fell awkwardly on his left leg during Bilbao Athletic’s match against Gimnástica there was immediate concern. The 18-year-old was in clear pain while holding his knee and had to be taken off. When the game was over the club announced that he had suffered a knee sprain and would be undergoing further tests. There was concern that it was a serious injury and tests confirmed that on Monday.
Athletic Club officially announced that Sancet has torn the ACL and Meniscus and his eft knee. The recovery time for such an injury normally runs between 6-9 months which means that the midfield could miss the remainder of the season. Like any other player, the club will prioritize his recovery and will not try to rush him back. Sancet is a very promising young footballer and this is an unfortunate pause in his development.
The goal of Athletic had been to let Sancet split time between the first team and the reserves as Eduardo Berizzo definitely had plans for the Lezama product. With that no longer an option for several months both squads will have to adjust their plans. At this point the most important thing is the player’s full and complete recovery.
