Andoni López Will Reportedly Join Almeria On Loan
It has been over a week since Eduardo Berizzo revealed his plans for Andoni López. Without having the ability to play regular minutes, the manager decided that it would be best for the 22-year-old to leave on loan and Athletic have been fielding offers ever since. Numancia have been chasing the left-back for almost a year now and were expected to be the ones to sign López, but that won’t be the case.
According to a breaking report from Javier Beltran of AS, Andoni López will be signing with Almeria on loan for the 2018/2019 season. Athletic were looking for a club that could guarantee playing time for the young defender and Almeria have been chosen as the best fit. López will be able to compete for a starting role as he looks to continue his development.
The Lezama product recently signed a contract renewal through 2021 and is hoping to prove himself worthy of a place at the San Mamés next season. With Mikel Balenziaga entering the last year of his deal and Christian Ganea viewed as more of an attacking player, López will have the chance to convince Berizzo next summer. For now he will test himself in the Segunda with an official announcement from Athletic expected soon.
