Peru Nolaskoain Returns To Training After Ankle Injury, Unai Etxebarria Spends The Day With The First Team
Peru Nolaksoain had a scare during Tuesday’s training session when he suffered an ankle injury and had to be escorted off the field. The 19-year-old looked to be in pain, but was able to walk off under his own pressure. Athletic Doctor, Josean Lekue, said afterwards that it was only a mild left ankle sprain and that there wasn’t any concern about it being anything serious. That proved to be true.
The midfielder had to sit out of Wednesday morning’s training session, but was thankfully able to rejoin his teammates during the evening practice. Nolaskoain didn’t look to be in any discomfort and participated in all drills. Afterwards, he posted on social media saying that he was back to work and that “Yesterday was only a little scare”. Nolaskoain is hoping to compete for a place in the first team this summer so returning from an injury so quickly is definitely a big deal for the Lezama product.
There was also a new face in training on Wednesday with Bilbao Athletic goalkeeper Unai Etxebarria spending the day with the first team. The reserves will begin their preseason on Thursday so Eduardo Berizzo took the opportunity to add a fifth keeper to his squad for the day with Iago Herrerín dealing with gastroenteritis. Hodei Oleaga has also been training with the senior squad due to the absence of Kepa Arrizabalaga who is still on vacation after competing with Spain at the World Cup.
