Athletic Club players will report back to Lezama on Monday for the start of preseason training. As usual, they will be undergoing physicals and taking team pictures, but the real work will be starting very soon. With the start of the La Liga campaign less than two months away, the club has been working hard to set up friendly games throughout the rest of the summer and are close to announcing their next one.

According to a report from Juanma Mallo of El CorreoAthletic will play a preseason friendly match against fellow Basque club Barakaldo before they leave for their trip to Holland. The game will take place on either 21 or 22 July and the final details are still being worked out, but will be played at Lasesarre. The Lions will be arriving in Holland on 23 July and will stay through the 29th while also competing in the tournament hosted by Duisburg on the 28th that will also feature Fulham and Fiorentina.

The match against Barakaldo will be the fifth preseason friendly scheduled so far. Athletic will also be playing games against Hannover 96, FC Augsburg, and Real Sociedad in the Basque Cup. They will face off with Duisburg in the first round of the tournament in Germany, but it isn’t known how many games will actually take place. The Lions are still hoping to schedule a few more friendlies that could already be in the works.
