Athletic Club Announce Preseason Training Trip To Holland
Over the past few years Athletic Club has made it a regular occurrence to spend part of preseason training in a different country. Last summer Kuko Ziganda took the team to Switzerland where they held practices and also participated in friendly matches. As expected, this trend will now continue into the Eduardo Berizzo era.
Athletic have announced that they will travel to Holland to train from 23 July through 29 July. The team will stay at the Hotel Landhuis and will also practice on the fields connected to the hotel. To end the trip, Athletic will travel to Germany to participate in the tournament being hosted by Duisburg. The Lions will play the first game against the hosts, while Fulham and Fiorentina will also be competing.
Preseason training will officially begin on Monday when the players will report back to Lezama for medicals and to take individual and team pictures. Athletic will play a friendly against Barakaldo before leaving for Holland with the game expected to take place on 21 or 22 July, although it hasn’t been announced yet because details are still being worked out. Eduardo Berizzo’s team will also play the Basque Cup final against Real Sociedad in early August before traveling back to Germany for games against Hannover and Augsburg. The club is still hoping to add a few more preseason games to the schedule.
