Jurgi Oteo Returns To Bilbao Athletic After A Year At Barakaldo
Bilbao Athletic are coming off of an incredible year that saw them become one of the best teams in the Segunda B and make it all the way to the promotional playoffs. Several key players will be missing in next season’s squad and the club is hard at work promoting young stars and brining in new talent for manager Gaizka Garitano. On Friday Athletic announced the latest signing who is also a familiar face.
Winger Jurgi Oteo has returned to Bilbao Athletic just one year after leaving the club. Last summer Athletic announced that Oteo had not been offered a contract renewal despite having a stellar campaign in which he scored six goals through 31 matches. At just 20 years old his exit was a bit confusing, but the year away at Barakaldo has seen him continue his development.
Oteo returns a more mature and confident footballer who will be competing for a starting role with others like Iñigo Muñoz and Gaizka Larrazabál. The 21-year-old’s dribbling ability and knack for taking on defenders will add a more direct attacking option to the team and will give the manager another dangerous weapon. It is always good to see players from Lezama return to Athletic and Oteo has definitely earned his place back with Bilbao Athletic.
