Athletic Club Announce Preseason Friendlies Against Hannover 96 And FC Augsburg
Athletic Club will begin preseason training in just 20 days and there is a buzz of excitement surrounding the team with the hiring of new manager Eduardo Berizzo. The Lions will have 34 players in the squad and the Argentine will be tasked with trimming the roster and building what he believes is the best group of players for the upcoming season. With the new campaign just around the corner Athletic have been hard at work preparing the preseason schedule and have just announced two new friendlies.
On Tuesday Athletic officially announced that they will play friendlies in Germany in early August against Hannover 96 and FC Augsburg. The friendly against Hannover will take place on 11 August at 15:30 and the fixture against Augsburg will be on the following day at the same time.
The Basques will also be competing in the Tournament of Traditions in Germany which will feature MSV Duisburg, Fulham, and Fiorentina. The competition will be played in 45 minute intervals and Athletic will face off with Duisburg in the opening round on 28 July. The club’s heavy schedule in Germany suggests that they could be set to hold some training sessions in the country, but that has yet to be announced.
