Unai Vencedor, Asier Córdoba, And Aitor Paredes Will Spend The Preseason Training With Bilbao Athletic
The future is always bright at Lezama and that was certainly evident this year with Athletic’s Juvenil A team who made it to the semifinals of the Copa de Juveniles. Star midfielder Oihan Sancet has already been called up to spend the summer training with the first team, but two more talented young players will get a special chance of their own starting next month.
On Tuesday Athletic Club announced that manager Gaizka Garitano has called on Unai Vencedor, Asier Córdoba, and Aitor Paredes to train with Bilbao Athletic during the preseason this summer. Vencedor, who is one of the youngest players for Junvenil A and won’t turn 18 until November, played more minutes than anyone else in the team and was the fulcrum of the midfield. Córdoba, who is the younger brother of Iñigo Córdoba and also plays on the wing, was joint lead scorer in league play with 11 goals. Paredes is a strong and confident defender who has recently been called up to the Spain U18 team.
While both players aren’t guaranteed a spot in the Bilbao Athletic squad, they will get the chance to compete for their place. Regardless of what happens, just being able to train with Bilbao Athletic will be wonderful experience for the pair. At the very least they will be promoted to feeder club CD Basconia where most of the Junveil A team is expected to play next season, including Ruben Azcona who is the youngest player in the squad having just recently turning 17 years old.
