Kepa Arrizabalaga Believes That Spain Is Capable Of Winning The World Cup
In just a few days the World Cup will officially begin and players from all across the globe will be competing in hopes of lifting the historic trophy. For Athletic Club, only one player will be featuring in the tournament in Russia, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga who will be acting as the backup to David De Gea in the Spain National Team. The 23-year-old recently spoke with Telemadrid and said that winning the World Cup would be a dream and that his team must be ready for their first game which will see them take on Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal.
“We all dream of lifting the World Cup. In the ends it’s a dream but we know that to achieve that dream we have a lot of work to do, so we better start by giving our best. We all know how easy it is for Cristiano Ronaldo to score goals so we have to take care of him and mark him closely so that he doesn’t give us any problems. I think we have a defined style and we have great players who play in many different leagues and for top clubs across Europe. Above all, the important thing for me is that we believe in our desire and I think we have a team capable of winning the World Cup.”
Spain are certainly one of the favorites to win the World Cup due to their depth of talent and immense quality throughout the squad. Although Kepa won’t be acting as a starter, there is always a chance that he could see some minutes in Russia and may even end up playing a role for La Roja. Regardless of how much or how little he features, Kepa is entirely deserving of his place in the team and is quickly becoming one of the best goalkeepers in football.
