Athletic Club Release New Home Kit For 2018/2019 Season
One of the most exciting times at the end of every football season is the day that clubs release their kits for the new campaign. Fans are always excited to purchase the new shirts and represent their team and that day has finally arrived for Athletic Club. On Wednesday the Lions released their new home kit for the 2018/2019 season in a video titled “Loyal To The Last”. Although they have yet to release the other kits for the upcoming campaign, the home shirt is already available on the club’s official website with personalization options.
Next season’s home shirt features broader stripes than in recent seasons (with three white stripes and two red stripes) and will remind fans of the kit worn in the 2015/2016 season during which the Lions won the Spanish Super Cup. Unlike the one used a few years ago, the middle stripe will be white instead of red and will sport a black V-Neck instead of a collar. Truthfully, this kit seems to be an homage to the one worn in 1982/1983 in which Athletic won the league title. The only difference is the solid red on the top of the back instead of the solid white used three decades ago.
The New Balance logo will appear in white with Athletic’s historic crest positioned above the heart as usual. Also keeping with tradition, the shorts will be black and will feature the club crest on the right leg with the kit provider logo on the left leg. The socks are also black. This year there will also be a 120 year anniversary emblem that will be place on the inside of the shirt on the back of the neck. The club has yet to reveal the other kits for next season to this point.
Now that the season has officially come to an end there will be a lot of changes at Athletic Club. Along with a new kit there will also be a new manager. Eduardo Berizzo will likely be announced as Kuko Ziganda’s successor at the end of the week and then the club will begin their preparations for the summer transfer window. A few players will be leaving the team this summer with the Lions focused on bringing in more quality and competition to the squad in order to compete for European qualification next season.
