PSG Reportedly Contacted Aymeric Laporte Over A Possible Transfer

Last summer Aymeric Laporte shocked the world when he turned down a lucrative offer from Manchester City and chose to instead sign an improved contract with Athletic Club. Now, one year later there are clubs circling the waters hoping that they can convince him to leave the San Mames. It has already been reported that Manchester City is ready to try their luck again, but now there is a new club that is taking a serious look at the 23-year-old.

According to a report from Jose Artexe of DEIAFrench giants PSG made contact with Aymeric Laporte last month in hopes of convincing the defender to make the switch back to his home country.

The report does go on to say that when PSG made contact it was to express their desire and test whether or not Laporte would be interested in the move. However, nothing has come of it to this point and the report describes contacts between the two since then as silent. PSG’s interest in Laporte may have cooled off after the discussion, but manager Unai Emery is very familiar with the player and would love to bring him back to France.

Laporte has been one of the best young defenders in Europe since making his climb to the Athletic first team. Despite just turning 23 a few days ago, he has already played in 192 games for the Lions. The club has always been quick to reward his loyalty with raises and new contracts and now they are hoping that he will once again choose to stay at the San Mames and play a major role in Cuco Ziganda’s team. It should also be noted that the Lezama product dreams of playing with France at the upcoming World Cup and interested clubs are expected to use that desire as a reason why he should leave Athletic Club this summer.
