With Cuco Ziganda taking over as the Athletic Club manager there is now a big question as to who will become the Bilbao Athletic coach. The club is already working on filling that void, but in the meantime they are also making moves to improve the reserve team. A few new faces have already been signed for the upcoming season and the club has also extended the contracts of two key players.
Aguado joined Bilbao Athletic last summer from Real Zaragoza and was used to fill the void left by Mikel Vesga. The midfielder played in 32 matches for the reserve side and really came on strong at the end of the season. The 22-year-old is expected to play a major role in the squad next year as the team will be competing for promotion to the Segunda division.
Unai Bilbao joined Lezama back in 2011, initially playing for the club’s Juvenil A team. That same season he saw action with CD Basconia before going on to join Bilbao Athletic in 2014. The 23-year-old has always had a lot of competition in front of him but this season he got the opportunity to play regular minutes with Yeray and Oscar Gil having left the team. Bilbao played in 23 matches and scored his first goal this season, cementing his place in the team. The report goes on to say that, despite signing a new contract, Bilbao could actually go on loan to the Segunda division in order to test himself against stronger opponents.
