Kepa Arrizabalaga was named to La Liga’s revelation XI this season and with good reason. The 22-year-old was promoted to the first team over the summer and went on to secure the starting role, becoming one of the best goalkeepers in the entire league. He’s played so well that he has even been called up to the Spain National Team. After such a great year, it’s only natural that other clubs have started to turn an eye to the Lezama product.
According to reports in Italy, Napoli are said to have real interest in Kepa Arrizabalaga and are believed to be weighing up an offer for the 22-year-old.
Athletic Club’s transfer policy is to never negotiate for a player they don’t want to lose. If Napoli are serious about signing Kepa, they will have to match his €30 million release clause. Even then, they would have to convince the keeper to accept the move which would be very difficult after his recent statements.
In an interview with Marca, Kepa said that he wants to stay at Athletic for a long time and that he is working hard to keep his place in the starting lineup. He went on to say that he has dreamed of playing for Athletic since he was a child and his goal now is to help the team win titles. The keeper has a contract until 2018 but both sides have been working on an extension that will tie Kepa to Athletic for several more years and significantly raise his wages and release clause.
