Athletic Club Announces Six-Year Kit Provider Deal With New Balance

Nike has acted as Athletic Club’s kit provider since 2013 with moderate success. Fans of the club tend to agree that some kits were exciting while others were not received well. Furthermore, the Basque giants believed that they could find a more lucrative partner elsewhere and earlier this season it became public knowledge that Athletic was not going to sign an extension with the American company. It was soon reported that a deal was in place with New Balance and that has finally become official.

On Monday evening, Athletic and New Balance announced that they had agreed to a six-year contract that will see the Boston-based company provide kits and equipment for the Basque club.

While the specific details of the deal are unknown, all signs point to Athletic making more from this deal than their previous €2.5 million agreement with Nike. Additionally, the fact that this is a six-year deal shows that the Basque giants must feel very good about the contract that is in place. Players like Mikel San Jose have already taken to Twitter to express their delight and are calling fans to be excited about the future as well.

Fans will have to wait a while longer before seeing New Balance’s first kit design for Athletic Club, but there are already some rumored ones floating around. Let us know what you think about this possible new kit below in the comment section.
