Sevilla Considering Ernesto Valverde To Replace Jorge Sampaoli
For several months now, Ernesto Valverde’s future at Athletic Club has been a big mystery. The manager is one of the best in Club history, but his time in Bilbao may be coming to an end. He is out of contract at the end of the season and reports claim that he is one of the names in line for the soon-to-be vacant job at Barcelona. However, there are more suitors hoping to convince him to leave Athletic.
According to a recent report from El Desmarque Bizkaia, Sevilla are now taking a close look at Valverde as he could become an option to replace current manager Jorge Sampaoli.
Things at Sevilla are not good at the moment. Sporting Director, Monchi, recent announced his exit which caused a bit of sadness around the club. Weeks later, reports revealed that Sampaoli has been in discussions about taking over as manager of the Argentina National Team. Right now, Sevilla are nearly certain that Sampaoli will leave the club this summer.
Ernesto Valverde is a natural name to be linked to Sevilla. According to the report, he and Celta Vigo’s Eduardo Berizzo are both being looked at due to their success and familiarity in La Liga. Laurent Blanc is also a name being linked due to Monchi’s infatuation with him over the years. There will be many more coaches considered for the potential vacancy at Sevilla, but for Athletic Club the list of clubs trying to take Valverde away continues to grow.
