Barcelona Eye A Summer Move For Yeray

In just one season Yeray has become one of the best young defenders in all of European football. The 22-year-old was promoted over the summer with the belief that he was ready for the jump to the first team and that have proved absolutely true. It took him just a few months to solidify a place in the starting lineup next to Aymeric Laporte and he has been absolutely integral to Athletic Club’s success this season. Naturally, bigger clubs are going to take notice.

According to a recent report from El Desmarque BizkaiaBarcelona has turned their eye to Yeray once again and are weighing up a summer move for the center-back.

This isn’t the first time Yeray has been linked with Barcelona. Last year before Christmas there were rumors that the Catalans were interested in signing him. However, when asked about the possible interest, Yeray laughed it off saying that he is at his dream club and has no interest in leaving Athletic to join anyone else. Like many of his teammates, the 22-year-old has been very vocal about not wanting to leave the Basque giants.

Yeray joined Lezama at a very young age and has always dreamed of playing at the San Mames. Now he is a starter for Athletic Club and playing at a high level. Those close to the situation believe that Yeray truly doesn’t want to leave Athletic Club and that should bring fans a bit of relief. The Catalans are also said to still be interested in Aymeric Laporte, but his €65 million release clause is likely to turn their heads away for right now. Yeray’s current contract runs until 2022 and has a €30 million release clause.
