Eibar Interested In Signing Enric Saborit This Summer

Enric Saborit’s future at Athletic Club is looking more and more clear with each passing week. The 24-year-old is out of contract in June and the Basque giants have yet to approach him about extending his deal. This season he played the role of backup left-back, as well as providing depth on the wing, but with the possible signing of Alex Berenguer he will not have a place in the squad next year. It is all but certain that he will leave Bilbao and he may already have a suitor.

According to rumors in the Basque Country, Eibar is taking a serious look at Saborit whom they could sign for free when his contract officially expires in June.

Eibar’s starting left-back, Antonio Luna, looks set to leave the club this summer. His contract also expires in June and it has been reported that he has had contacts with Sevilla about joining them when the current campaign comes to a close. Due to Eibar’s significantly limited resources, signing someone for free like Saborit would make a lot of sense for the club. As of now, Luna has yet to agree to any serious talks over extending his current contract with Eibar.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Saborit over the coming months. If Berenguer is signed from Osasuna, Saborit’s place in the team becomes completely non-existent. However, if the Lions fail to bring in their target, there may be need to extend Saborit’s contract in order to preserve depth on the left side of the pitch. Only time will tell what will happen with the Lezama graduate, but it certainly looks like he will be leaving Athletic Club in a few months.
