Juventus Have Growing Interest In Inaki Williams
It is no secret that Inaki Williams is one of the brightest young forwards in European football. Since breaking into the Athletic first team other clubs have begun to take notice of the 22-year-old with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund monitoring his situation over the last year. After Liverpool made it known that they were willing to meet his release clause, Inaki chose to reject their offer and renew his contract with the Lions and extend his clause to €50 million.
As reported last week, Italian giants Juventus have now turned an eye to the Lezama graduate and even sent a scout to watch his game with Spain U21 in Rome on Monday. When the camera panned around during the match it was very clear that it was no ordinary scout as Juventus Sporting Director, Fabio Paratici, could clearly be seen in the stands.
Juventus are fully aware that Athletic Club do not negotiate the selling of players and always refer interested parties to a player’s release clause. For now, reports coming out of Italy suggest that they are not willing to meet Inaki’s €50 million asking price, but that could change if he continues to improve over the rest of the season. Juventus are also keeping a close eye on Marco Asensio of Real Madrid and Hector Bellerin of Arsenal
With Inaki Williams gracing the cover of Tuttosport in Italy and having the Juventus Sporting Director at his match, Athletic knows that the interest is real. Rumors in Bilbao suggest that they could be ready to go ahead an offer Inaki another renewal to raise his release clause again much like they have done over the past few years with Aymeric Laporte. In a recent interview, the 22-year-old made it clear that he has no plans of leaving Athletic Club, saying that the club has given him everything and that he dreams of becoming an Athletic legend at the San Mames.
“I am very happy at Athletic. I feel proud to be here and I do not want a change scenery. I have no interest in being anywhere else. Interest from other clubs show that I am doing well, but I am at Athletic and this is a big club. I see a big future for myself at Athletic Club. They have given my everything.”
