According to our friends at LaCanteraDeLezama.com, Athletic have signed Santutxu midfielder Unai Vencedor who will be incorporated into Lezama next season.

The 16-year-old is one of the best young talents from Bizkaia his age, with some going as far to say that he may be the most hyped player from the area in recent memory. He can play anywhere in the midfield and is extremely gifted technically. Despite his versatility, he is at his best when functioning as a central attacking midfielder. He has great vision for his age and a powerful shot, meaning there is a lot of game that can still be improved and turned into major strengths when he is older. So far he has represented the Basque Country U16 squad at the international level.

Vencedor will likely join CD Basconia next season, though there is a chance that he could start out one level down with the Juvenile A team just to get accustomed to life at Lezama. This signing is being seen as one of the biggest Bizkaian youth signings at Athletic in recent memory. Several other clubs were after the midfielder as well, including Real Sociedad, Valencia, and Real Betis. As always, expect Athletic to be very careful with the young talent so as not to put him in a position that will stunt or harm his growth.
