Athletic Club is busy preparing for their next league game which will take place against Osasuna this Saturday at El Sadar. Following Tuesday’s training session, Raul Garcia spoke to the media and looked ahead to the game against his former club.
“We are ready to play again. I will have to play in Pamplona and it is beautiful. I have good memories from there, the club gave me everything. We know that it won’t be an easy match, but it will be a special one for me. I won’t celebrate if I score, but I am a professional and I want to score and win. We must stay concentrated to take three points. It makes to sad to see where Osasuna is in the table, I wish them the best.”
Garcia went on to say that the team must strive for three points in every match now.
“Now it doesn’t matter if we play at home or on the road, we always need tree points to be in a good position. We have played many matches this season and a lot of them have been oddly scheduled. We don’t know why, but we must always be prepared to compete.”
In closing, the midfielder refused to discuss the rumors swirling around Ernesto Valverde. Garcia believes that the team has enough to focus on with their upcoming matches.
“The decision is not ours so we can’t focus on it. It’s the manager and President that must decide. We have enough to think about with our games. Not knowing the future doesn’t affect us. Training has been normal and we are focused on our games. We trust in what we have right now.”
Saturday’s Basque Derby promises to be entertaining. Osasuna are at the bottom of the league table and desperate for points against their rivals. Athletic, meanwhile, are fighting to be back in Europe next year and can’t afford to drop points in a game like this.
