Injuries have been a big issue for Athletic Club this season, but going into the international break the team was relatively healthy. As of Tuesday, only Alex Remiro was missing training due to injury but he is expected to recover and be available to Ernesto Valverde when the La Liga campaign picks back up in April. However, there was a scare during Tuesday’s training session.
Aritz Aduriz went to speak with trainers and eventually left training. Early reports are that he felt some discomfort and the trainers decided that it was best if he just sit out the rest of training to protect himself from making anything worse.
Luckily, it doesn’t appear to be anything serious, just discomfort. With nearly two weeks until Athletic’s next match, Aduriz should be completely healthy and ready to play when Athletic travel to El Sadar on 1 April.
Regardless, fans certainly don’t like hearing about training injuries. Aduriz has been absolutely vital to Athletic’s success over the past few seasons and it is good to see the club taking it easy with him during this break. We will keep you updated on any new news regarding the striker or any other Lions.
